Notice of Membership Referendum on Dues Increase

 

All UNITE HERE Local 23 Amtrak Chapter Members:

 

UNITE HERE Local 23 proposes an increase in the monthly due rate of UNITE HERE Local 23 Amtrak Chapter members from the current rate of $65 per month to $77 per month upon ratification of the tentative collective bargaining agreement between the Amtrak Service Workers Council and Amtrak, from $77 to $79.31 on 1/1/25, from $79.31 to $82.48 on 1/1/26, from $82.48 to $85.36 on 1/1/27, and from $85.36 to $87 on 1/1/28.

When will the referendum take place?

The referendum will take place from July 23rd at 10 am ET through July 29th at 4pm ET.

How will the referendum take place?

The referendum will take place by secret ballot via Election Buddy, an on-line voting service. If you are a member in good standing as of July 22nd at 4 pm ET, you will receive a link via email that will allow you to cast your vote. See below for important details below about updating your email address. The ballot will consist of a single “yes” or “no” option for the entire package of proposed increases as set forth above.

Who may vote?

All members of good standing of UNITE HERE Local 23 Amtrak Chapter as of July 22, 2024 at 4 pm ET.

How do I become a member in good standing if I’m not currently one?

If you are not currently a member in good standing, you may become so by paying any dues that you owe via the Local 23 Moonclerk site, or by showing a paystub that deductions sufficient to make you current have been taken from your last paycheck. Contact [email protected] to verify your outstanding balance or get instructions to become a member in good standing. You must be in good standing by July 22, 2024 at 4 pm ET to be eligible to vote.

What do I need to do to vote?

You need to provide us an email address where you want us to send your ballot. Please use this

Will my vote be secret?

Yes. Local 23 has no way of knowing how any member voted through the electronic voting platform.
